# Data license

This document is about the **data** the Ladesäulenregister API returns — which is
**separate** from the license of this tool's **code** (see [LICENSING.md](LICENSING.md)).

> **We provide the tool, not the data.** `ladesaeulenregister-cli` is an independent
> client. It bundles no data. What you retrieve is governed by the terms of the data
> provider, the Bundesnetzagentur.

## Who provides the data

The **Ladesäulenregister** is maintained by the **Bundesnetzagentur** (Federal Network
Agency). Operators of publicly accessible charging stations are required to report
them; the register publishes the publicly accessible stations.

## The licence — CC BY 4.0

The Bundesnetzagentur publishes the charging-station data as **open data under the
Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0)**. You may copy,
redistribute, adapt, and use the data — including commercially — **provided you give
attribution** to the source.

### Required attribution

Name the Bundesnetzagentur as the source, e.g.:

> Datenquelle: Ladesäulenregister der Bundesnetzagentur (bundesnetzagentur.de),
> lizenziert unter [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) —
> abgerufen am `<Datum>`.

Keep the attribution when you republish or build products on the data.

## Notes

- The full list is also available as **CSV/XLSX downloads** from the Bundesnetzagentur;
  this tool reads the same data live via the public ArcGIS interface.
- Personal data is not published; the register lists the publicly accessible stations
  reported by operators.
